About the Awards
The Palmer Marketing Awards celebrate outstanding marketing campaigns that deliver exceptional creativity, innovation and results. They’re named in honor of James L. Palmer, the first president of the Chicago chapter of the American Marketing Association, starting in 1937. Palmer was also a University of Chicago marketing professor and president and CEO of Marshall Field & Co. during its mid-20th-century expansion.
These awards recognize the work that sets benchmarks in the industry—from groundbreaking strategies to campaigns that captivate and inspire. With nine distinct categories, this is your opportunity to showcase your campaigns that moved the needle and made an impact.

Award Categories
The Palmer’s nine award categories are designed to spotlight the diverse range of marketing excellence. Whether it’s a digital-first initiative or a campaign that redefines brand storytelling, there’s a category that fits your work.
A Grand Prize winner will be selected from the winners in each of the nine categories:

1. Product or Service Launch
Acknowledging excellence in marketing campaigns that successfully launch new products or services for the organization.
Criteria
- Show how innovative marketing tactics were used to successfully introduce a new product or service into the marketplace with quantifiable, measurable success.
- Only products or services available for purchase after January 1, 2025, are eligible.
Example
A go-to-market campaign introducing a new product, feature, or service that launched after January 1, 2025, supported by integrated messaging, promotion and measurable uptake.

2. Momentum
Recognizing outstanding marketing efforts that propel existing products or services to new heights for the organization.
Criteria
- Show use of effective marketing tactics to grow or reenergize an existing product or service that was in the marketplace before January 1, 2026
Example
A campaign that re-energized an existing product or service through repositioning, refreshed messaging, new audiences or expanded channels — resulting in renewed growth or engagement.

3. Data-Driven Marketing
Recognizing campaigns where insights, analytics or marketing technology played a meaningful role in driving smarter decisions and stronger results.
Criteria
- Demonstrate how data, insights or marketing technology informed marketing decisions
- Show how those insights influenced strategy, execution or optimization
- Explain the resulting business or audience impact
Example
A campaign where data or insights guided key decisions — such as audience targeting, messaging, timing or channel mix — leading to improved performance or efficiency, without requiring advanced technology.

4. Engagement
Celebrating campaigns that compel audiences to connect and engage with the organization.
Criteria
- Demonstrate how engaging with customers has had a positive impact on the organization by driving sales, changing purchasing behavior, improving brand perceptions or increasing satisfaction levels.
- Show how the brand generated word of mouth by transforming the way it does business.
Example
A campaign designed to deepen customer interaction or participation — encouraging conversation, sharing, loyalty or behavior change that strengthened the relationship with the audience.

5. Integrated Marketing
Honoring exceptional integration of multi-channel marketing strategies that drive business results for the organization.
Criteria
- Show impact on the brand and its ability to drive engagement, conversation, leads, referrals or conversion.
- Include examples of how the brand seamlessly integrated offline and online marketing tactics.
Example
A multi-channel campaign that seamlessly connected online and offline tactics — such as email, paid media, events, social, PR or experiential — to drive consistent messaging and results.

6. Not-for-Profit Marketing
Celebrating the most impactful marketing campaigns dedicated to supporting and promoting important causes and proactive community service.
Criteria
- Show best use of an integrated online and offline marketing program to advance a cause marketing initiative.
Example
A mission-driven campaign that raised awareness, participation, funding or support for a cause or community initiative through thoughtful marketing strategy and execution.

7. Influencer Collaboration
Recognizing the creative and effective utilization of influencer/creator marketing to achieve notable business outcomes for the organization.
Criteria
- Show alignment with business objectives.
- Submissions may showcase influencers who were supporting the organization online, offline, or in integrated campaigns.
Example
A campaign that partnered with creators or influencers to authentically reach new or existing audiences — aligned with business goals and measurable outcomes.

8. B2B Marketing
Recognizing outstanding marketing campaigns to attract and capture leads for key targets for the organization.
Criteria
- Showcase innovative strategies in messaging, content, or channel selection tailored for business decision-makers.
- Highlight any unique approaches to overcoming common B2B marketing challenges (e.g., long sales cycles, multiple stakeholders).
Example
A marketing campaign targeting business decision-makers that generated qualified leads, pipeline momentum or account engagement despite long sales cycles or complex buying groups.

9. Best Use of Generative AI
Celebrating campaigns that demonstrate the ability to harness the evolving field of large language models to drive improved business impact.
Criteria
- Demonstrate how generative AI was strategically integrated into the campaign to achieve business objectives.
- Explain ethical considerations, transparency and responsible use of AI in the campaign execution.
Example
A campaign that strategically used generative AI to enhance content, personalization, insights or efficiency — with transparency, ethical consideration and clear business impact.
Submissions
While the Palmer Marketing Awards celebrate campaigns that reflect the vibrant spirit of Chicago and the Midwest, we welcome submissions from marketers nationwide whose work embodies the creativity and innovation we champion.
Submissions for 2026 open Friday, February 13.
